Creo Medical team up with Chepstow School to plant 200 trees

Chepstow-based medical device company Creo Medical have joined forces with pupils, teachers and governors from Chepstow School to plant 200 trees on the school grounds.

The trees, which include Wild Cherry, Alder and two types of Oak varieties, amongst others, have been planted in five locations across the school grounds – each with suitable conditions to ensure that the trees thrive and mature over the coming years.

Creo Medical provided the trees as part of their ongoing drive to support the community surrounding their Chepstow HQ and to build on their commitment to reducing their carbon footprint wherever possible. It’s one of a number of initiatives bought forward by Creo as it looks to step up the Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) aspects of the business.

It’s fantastic to see Creo Medical employees and local children together planting these trees, and to know the many benefits and joy they will bring over the coming months and years.

“Planting these trees will more than offset the carbon emitted from a year’s business travel and is another step in the right direction for us as we continue to ensure that the Creo way of doing business is as environmentally friendly as possible.

“We’ve been fortunate enough to engage with local schools and organisations, including Chepstow School, in the past – providing 3D printers, equipment, talks and workshops.

“The motivation by all age groups to improve their own communities coupled with the understanding of the global context has been inspiring. It’s been great to collaborate with them again.

We are extremely happy to be working with Creo Medical and hope this will be the start of a long and fruitful project within the Chepstow Community. Our children are also really excited to be part of this event and planting of the trees.

Cam Rennie, a year 10 pupil at Chepstow School added:

The addition of trees to the school grounds will not only improve our carbon footprint but also provide biodiversity and important habitats for wildlife around the school. The cherry trees will be a perfect food source for many mammals and birds – I’m really excited to see how the trees and variety of wildlife grows!
